Welcome to SHU Film Society!

Film Society is a home for all movie enjoyers, the cinephile as well as the casual film-goer, based around regular screenings of a specially curated programme by our committee and suggestions from our members! We hope to offer a varied programme of genres, themed months, old films and new, the blockbusters and the more obscure, foreign language... and more! 

As a social society, we intend to hold a range of events including film screenings, quiz nights, student short film showcases, cinema trips, and the usual pub social after all of our events - alcohol not required of course! Follow our social medias to find info on all the film-related events in the city, cinema memberships and free subscriptions to streaming services!

When and Where?

We hold twice weekly screenings on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:30pm. Our screenings take place in The Void lecture theatre and cinema, located on floor 1 of the Owen Building. To find us, ride the lift all the way down to the bottom floor of Owen Building, when you exit enter the door to the left of the screen and head straight down the corridor. 

Occasionally we may have to move to another room or start at a different time, so remember to check our Instagram and Discord for any changes!

Admission and Membership

As the ONLY free cinema in Sheffield, we charge no admission, nor membership fees for our screenings in The Void - just book your free ticket and turn up! When visiting other cinemas or film clubs there may be a ticket fee, but we will provide info for the best deals and discounts in the city!
