Recent wins

  • We're submitting a report to the board of governors asking for Aspect Court Cafe to be reinstated.
  • We're setting up 1-1 financial appointments to support the Sept 2021 cohort of Nursing students facing issues caused by the pandemic.
  • We're now sat on the Access & Participation Plan writing group to ensure Hallam's intervention commitments work for our students.
  • Our Inclusive Standards focus group report has been published, and we're meeting with Hallam's Disabled Student Services to action the recommendations.
  • Our Cost of Living Shop is thriving. We've partnered with Aldi and Hallam Catering to secure food donations for the Community Fridge. So far, we've saved over 250kg of food from landfill and over £1,250 for students! We've also swapped over 500 items of clothing through our Swap Shop!
  • We supported our Women's Rep, Dot Williams, for a Reclaim the Night march on 7 March and are supporting her Consent Education Policy that was recently passed at Union Council.
  • Our President and International Students' Officer joined us at Parliament to speak to the Student APPG about student housing issues, and we presented Sheffield Centre's MP Paul Blomfield with an open letter about these issues too.

Cost of living

Having completed the third round of our Cost of Living survey, we've compiled a report on the findings and made a list of recommendations to be considered going forward.
