Placement roles
Marketing and Communications Assistant (Paid)

Support the Marketing and Communications team in boosting student engagement through content creation across digital and physical platforms. Responsibilities include design, copywriting, video production, social media management, and student-focused initiatives.
Outreach and Engagement Assistant (Paid)
-
Provide front-line student support by handling enquiries, running outreach campaigns, and aiding retention. As the first contact, offer information, signpost services, record interactions, and collaborate to enhance engagement.
Student support and wellbeing
Social Connectors (Paid)

Part-time role supporting students with holistic, non-medical wellbeing support. Responsibilities include student meetings, activity planning, resource creation, and collaborating with the Wellbeing team.
Community Organisers (Paid)

Part-time role advocating for student rights, supporting liberation communities, and driving engagement. Responsibilities include amplifying voices, building relationships, and leading campaigns for positive change.
Cost of Living Shop Staff (Voluntary)

Volunteer with HSU’s Cost-of-Living Shop, supporting the Community Fridge and Swap Shop by redistributing food and running sustainable swaps. Gain experience in sustainability, customer service, and community support while aiding students.

Student Communities Assistants (Paid)

Part-time Students' Union Brand Ambassador role boosting engagement by promoting events, activities, and services through outreach, social media, and campus interactions. Responsibilities include leading trips, supporting key events, and enhancing SU visibility.

Campaigns Assistant (Voluntary)
A short-term placement supporting student-led campaigns and advocacy projects.
Society committees
Society committee elections take place every year around Spring (March/April).
Society President (Voluntary)

Lead and represent the society, ensuring smooth operation, setting goals, and supporting the committee and members while maintaining communication with the SU.
Society Treasurer (Voluntary)

Manage society finances, create budgets, oversee spending, process funding requests, and ensure financial sustainability while working with the committee and SU.
Society Secretary (Voluntary)
Handle society administrative tasks, including booking venues, taking meeting minutes, organising events, and ensuring clear communication between members and external partners.
Health and Safety Officer (Voluntary)
- Oversee society risk assessments, safety measures, incident reporting, and equipment upkeep.
- Gain experience in risk management, teamwork, and compliance.
This role is mandatory for high-risk societies.
