We're pleased to announce that, after undergoing a rigorous process, the Student Advice Centre has passed the recent Advice Quality Standard assessment!
The assessment consisted of an on-site visit from an AQS assessor, including a review of cases, as well as submission of documents relating to service policies, planning and delivery. The assessor required that we clearly evidence how we have successfully met the AQS requirements in the last two years since the previous assessment took place. A significant number of areas of good practice were identified during the AQS assessment, highlighting areas where the organisation has exceeded the standard to a significant extent and has developed an innovative approach to service delivery.
For the Students' Union, holding the AQS accreditation illustrates that the Student Advice Centre works to high standards of best practice. This means that students can be assured that they will receive free, confidential and high quality advice, which is independent from the University.
The Advice Centre has supported over a thousand clients in the last academic year with complex cases and enquiries, plus a thousand more with general information and signposting. It has also won over £290,000 in funding and benefits for students.
From everyone at the Students' Union, we would like to congratulate Maddy and the rest of the team for all of their hard work, commitment and motivation in helping and supporting students by offering quality advice. Your hard work is certainly appreciated!
