Student Advice Centre receives re-accreditation

Did you know that your Students' Union Advice Service gets audited every 2 years by an external organisation, which measures us against the Advice Quality Standard (AQS)?

The service received its re-accreditation in November 2021, with a number of points of good practice highlighted by the auditor.

In order to receive accreditation, our service must demonstrate that we have rigorous procedures in place and that we provide advice to a high standard, submitting evidence and documentation to show this. This year, we provided over 130 different pieces of evidence! The auditor also reviews a sample of our case files (with the students' explicit permission).

So what does this mean for you?

The AQS accreditation means that students who use our service are assured of getting a good experience and can be confident their case will be well managed, with accurate and relevant advice provided.

So, if you need advice on problems relating to funding or financial difficulties, housing issues, or University regulations and processes such as appeals, disciplinary proceedings, academic conduct, or you would like advice on making a complaint to the University, you can get in touch with us, safe in the knowledge that our service has been found to be of good quality!

Our friendly advisers are on hand to provide free, confidential and independent advice to all Hallam students on the issues that might be affecting you.

And don't just take our word for it! We have recieved the following comments from students this year (quoted anonymously and with permission):

"My adviser was very professional… very mindful of student problems and issues and helped you to calm yourself and work towards your goals efficiently. I was very satisfied."

"Incredible service… I felt so at ease the second I was able to speak to my adviser. The adviser helped me through a difficult meeting and has been lovely and pleasant throughout!"

Getting in touch

We are currently offering a variety of ways for students to contact us, from email and web form, to phone and in-person drop-ins at the HUBS. This can be subject to change, so please check for current opening times and self-help information. We will also be popping up in other University buildings in the new year.

It's not long until the end of term, so don't leave your pre-vacation worries until the last minute - contact us for advice!

Keep an eye on your emails as we'll be keeping you updated on common queries and useful information each month.
