At Hallam Students' Union, we're committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for all students, including the LGBTQ+ community. As part of their right to freedom of speech, the LGBTQ+ Society will be counter-protesting the 'Let Women Speak' protest being held at Sheffield City Hall on 21 September, 1pm-3pm. We understand the importance of dialogue and diverse perspectives, and we fully support our students' right to express themselves peacefully.
Our priority is the wellbeing and safety of our entire student body. Whether you choose to participate in the protest or counter-protest, we ask that everyone conduct themselves respectfully and in accordance with our Student Code of Conduct.
If you are in any way impacted by the protest, please access our support services:
- You can seek advice from our Advice Centre if your studies are impacted. We hold drop-in sessions at the HUBS, or students can get in touch with us by phone or online.
- The University provides wellbeing support and a chaplaincy service if you'd like to talk to someone about how you are feeling. There are additional resources available on the University website too.
- It is also a good idea to talk with your Student Support Adviser.
- If you need to report a hate crime or incident, please use the University's dedicated Report and Support service.
