LGBTQ+ History Month: TV show list

As part of LGBTQ+ History Month, we’ve been making recommendations for you with content from, for and about LGBTQ+ people. The following are recommendations on TV shows:

1. Euphoria – One of the most talked about TV shows lately, this stars Zendaya and Hunter Schafer and follows a group of high school students as they grapple with various social issues such as identity, love and drugs.

2. Pose – Another recent hit, Pose is set in New York in the 80s and 90s and is centred on ball culture and the lives of the LGBTQ+ people who are a part of it. The series features a large ensemble cast, staring Indya Moore, Billy Porter, Angelica Ross and Evan Peters.

3. It’s A Sin – A new drama from Russel T. Davies, telling the story of four friends in London during the 80s who find their lives affected by the AIDS crisis. The show stars Olly Alexander from the band Years and Years, is highly acclaimed and has broken records on Channel 4’s streaming platform ‘All4’.

4. Sex Education – This TV show is a great watch, with its inclusion of queer characters which arcs concerning expression and self-discovery but is also great for its forward-thinking approach to many sexual situations and issues people face.

5. Queer Eye – Follow the Fab 5 as they set out to help people with all kinds of issues, often relating to lifestyle, fashion and relationships.

6. Sense8 – A science-fiction drama about a group of people who find themselves mentally linked with one another and have to work to fight those who see them as a threat. This show covers topics such as sexuality, identity and politics and was created by trans filmmakers The Wachowski Sisters, Lana and Lily Wachowski – the makers of The Matrix Trilogy.
