Hallam students prepare for the biggest trip of their lives…Balloon Kenya

Featured

Each year Sheffield Hallam Students' have the opportunity to apply to the Balloon Kenya programme via Sheffield Hallam Students' Union. The programme enables successful students to fly out to Kenya for 6 weeks to work with ambitious Kenyan entrepreneurs to grow businesses that change lives.

This year the 3 successful students that will be going to Kenya are: final year Tourism Management student Laura Jayne Panter, final year Mathematics student Charlie Vaughan and third year Law student Sam Clarkson.

Laura, Charlie and Sam have been busy preparing for their trip to Kenya. This includes getting their immunisations, buying mosquito nets, fundraising and more. The Students' Union pays £1,000 towards the trip and the students have to come up with creative ways to fundraise for the other £995. Methods used by the students this year include, approaching charities and asking for donations, hosting a psychic night and there is a potential sponsored sky dive on the horizon for Laura too.

Make sure to follow the students on their journey via their blogs (links below) where they will provide you all with fundraising tips, how they are preparing for their trip and lots of photos and updates live from Kenya!
