Hallam One Race was a cultural spectacular event, celebrating the diversity of Sheffield Hallam students. On Friday 17th March students enjoyed a night of cultural displays including; art, music, dance, fashion and more at The HUBS.
International Students' Rep Theo Nwankwo organised the event explaining; 'Hallam One Race is a platform celebrating culture, a platform celebrating social cultural integration, a platform promoting peace and unity within Sheffield Hallam. We have come from different parts of the world and converged here at Hallam displaying the beauty of our different cultures and that's the beauty of Hallam One Race.' Theo hopes this is just the start of an event that will continue to grow annually.
The night began with a buffet and drinks reception, followed a host of performances from talented Sheffield Hallam students. AIM society, Vietnamese society, the Russian Dance society and the Chinese society all gave wonderful performances showcasing their cultures. There were also performances of improvised comedy and Indian singing.
Congratulations and thank you to everyone who performed or played a part in organising this event - we think it was simply wonderful and we're already excited for the next one! If you have any photos from the night we would love to see them! Send them to us with #HallamOneRace. You can find the rest of our photos over on Facebook.
