With no courses at Hallam devoted to studying Philosophy, Sheffield Hallam Student Union's Philosophy Society is the only place on campus dedicated to researching and discussing the ideas that are dominant or in some way influence our western society of today. From the ancient Greeks through to modern philosophers of today, we will be discussing the ideas of philosophers such as Plato, Aristotle, Augustine, Aquinas, Descartes, Locke, Kant, Nietzsche, and Rand.
The Philosophy Society isn't just for those that are well-learned in philosophy or have an explicitly laid out philosophy of their own; the Philosophy Society is open to all that wish to learn and discuss new ideas regardless of prior knowledge. Our main series of sessions will be dedicated to going through the history of Philosophy, with information on all the ideas being discussed provided at the beginning of the discussion and prior to the discussion which you can either read beforehand or print out and bring along.
Make sure to keep an eye on both our Facebook page and Twitter account for information about our next session that will also contain all the information needed for you to take part in the discussion.
