Although projects will be running in the 20/21 academic year they may look a little different than before due to social distancing guidelines. This means meetings and sessions may be done virtually - the volunteering team will guide you on this.
Project Aim: Interested in mental health issues, teaching and working with children? Why not combine these three in a great project. With a team of volunteers you will plan and deliver interactive workshops aimed at a diverse group of key stage 2 primary school pupils tackling certain mental health issues or undergoing challenging transitions. Volunteers can be creative with session plans that will cover topics such as stress, confidence, and happiness in an engaging and child friendly way. This project is a great opportunity to gain some upfront experience with children and teaching.
Hours per week:1-2
Volunteers on this project will need to complete Safeguarding training and a DBS Check which will be done by the Volunteering Team at SHSU. Information on this will be sent once you are on the project. Expenses for travel can be reimbursed by SHSU for more information on this see the Volunteering Handbook.
