What is BAMSOC? 

SHU BAMSoc is a student led academic society which focuses on professional and academic development for students of any course who are interested in Business and Management! We also encourage a social aspect to the society where individuals with a similar interest can get to know each other! Due to the impact of COVID-19 on socialising this year, we're planning on creating a social community for our members as a priority this year, so you have somewhere to be a part of! Expect lots of virtual events, and hopefully some more in person events as the year goes on!

Autumn 2020 Elections Information

We have elections coming up soon for two different committee roles, and would love for you to get involved and join us! Anyone who is a member can nominate themselves for election or vote in elections, right here on our SU page on the following dates: 

Nominations: 12/10/2020 at 09:00 – 18/10/2020 at 00:00

Voting: 19/10/2020 at 13:00 – 25/10/2020 at 00:00  

Roles up for election:

  • Co-Treasurer

  • Marketing and Social Media Officer



  • Attend fortnightly BAMSoc Committee meetings

  • Collaborating and working as a team with our current treasurer on issues

  • Making a financial plan

  • Making sure that the society adheres to the SU’s policies and all paperwork is submitted on time

  • Sending purchase order request forms to your coordinator

  • Signing off on claims forms for expenditure

  • Applying for funding from the Students’ Union and external sources

  • Create and/or maintain society sponsorship agreements

  • Generating funds for the society to cover your day to day running plus any additional events/trips

  • Making a financial report for the end of year Annual General Meeting 

Marketing and Social Media Officer:


  • Attend fortnightly BAMSoc Committee meetings

  • Running the society’s social media accounts - Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn

    • Posting about upcoming events and activities

    • Sharing interesting/relevant news or articles related to BAMSoc

    • Responding to social media communication from students

    • Organise a calendar of marketing events

  • Communicating with committee members and students over social media platforms and promoting BAMSoc to new members

  • Creating new and exciting ways of engaging with members and potential members

  • Displaying posters around the university promoting BAMSoc events (COVID-19 may affect this)  

  • Collaborate with the Treasurer with any marketing related budgets

  • Produce promotional material for BAMSoc in the current BAMSoc branding style (other committee members can also do this to help!)
