Christmas tree event at Whirlow Hall Farm

On 22nd and 23rd December volunteers can come to Whirlow Hall Farm and help the general public to select, buy and chop their own Christmas tree.

The Sunday Centre

The Sunday Centre offers delicious hot meals and a safe, friendly and welcoming place for homeless people and people in need every Sunday afternoon. Their guests are homeless, rootless, marginalised, refugees, asylum seekers and anyone in need who are living in Sheffield. 

SHSU Volunteering and the Sunday Centre are organising a One - Off opportunity for students to come along and support them serving a festive meal on Sunday 16th December.

Foodhall

Foodhall is a public dining room and kitchen at the heart of Sheffield city centre. Managed by the community, for the community, they tackle social isolation and encourage integration across a diverse range of community groups.

They are looking for volunteers, donations and fundraising for their Public Xmas on December 25th.

HARC

Every year HARC provide a safe and warm day shelter, which is open to all homeless and rootless vulnerable men and women between Christmas Eve and New Year’s Day. HARC need volunteers to help cook, provide entertainment/activities, and help us run services for our guests. Around Sheffield, there are many organisations providing support for people who are homeless. This Christmas they really need some essential items that allow them to keep supporting vulnerable people. All you need to do is choose the charities you want to support from the list below, purchasing items which the charities have asked for and drop them off at Sheffield Hallam Students' Union.

1. Ben's Centre: please donate coffee and sugar

2. Soup kitchen: please donate hats and gloves

3. The archer project: please donate coffee and socks

4. Street outreach team: please donate Gloves and socks

5. The Sunday centre: please donate biscuits and chocolate bars
