TIME: 3pm - 4pm
After the success of our University Mental Health Day guest speaker the Univeristy Wellbeing Team are welcoming adventurer Alex Staniforth to come and speak to you about all things mental health.
Alex Staniforth is a record-breaking adventurer, author, speaker and founder of a mental health charity, Mind Over Mountains. At just 25 he's already survived the two biggest disasters in Everest history as a teenager, published two books and raised over £100,000 for charity in the process. Mental ill health has been one of Alex's biggest mountains to climb, having suffered with depression, anxiety and the eating disorder bulimia since the age of 16.
Lockdown has felt a lot like an expedition and affected the mental well-being of so many. Alex will be openly sharing the peaks and troughs of his personal journey to show why mental illness isn't a weakness, and some tips for protecting our well-being and supporting each other when we can't see the top of the mountain.
