Sheffield is one of the UK's safest cities and is an incredible place to live and study in. Sheffield Hallam Students' Union work closely with South Yorkshire Police, Sheffield Hallam University and the local community to make sure that our students can live their lives as safely as possible during your time at university.
From our Safe Taxi Scheme to student-led crime reduction initiatives, we work hard to make sure that we're listening to students on the issues that are affecting you, and making sure that we're taking action when you need us to. Thanks to student feedback in the recent past, we have developed new safety campaigns, worked with Sheffield Hallam University to make your campuses safer and even worked with SHU faculties to make sure students have access to free personal safety alarms to use when out and about. All of this work is a result of feedback from you, so make sure that you let us know how you want us to help you stay safe during your time at University - tweet us, get in touch with your Welfare & Community Officer or drop in for a quick chat!
At The HUBS, The Hideout, your Students’ Union bar, is Best Bar None accredited and we actively promote initiatives such as the Best Bar None scheme to encourage responsible licensing and a safe night out in the city’s bars and clubs.
There's also a Best Bar None app for Sheffield. It is the one-stop app for all the information you might need for a safe night out in the city. It allows you to find Sheffield’s best and safest entertainment venues for your night out via GPS, and includes all Best Bar None accredited premises in the city. It also gives tips on your health and safety during a night out, as well as travel information!
The app is available for Android and Apple devices, click on the correct link for your device to download.
