International Experience Team (IET)
The IET is your go-to team for anything related to being an international student. They can help you with:
- Understanding your visa conditions
- Getting settled in the UK
- Cultural events and socials
- International student queries
Hallam Students’ Union
We’re here to support you throughout your time at university - academically, socially, and personally. At the SU, you can:
- Access free, independent advice from our Student Advice Centre
- Join or start societies, including many international and cultural groups
- Get involved in events and activities that help you meet people and feel at home
- Speak to your International Students’ Officer, who represents your views (contact them here: shafaq.sajid@shu.ac.uk)
Academic Support
- Access workshops, 1:1 tutorials, and online tools to build your academic and employability skills.
- Help with English language support, referencing, academic writing, and presentation skills.

2. Academic Misconduct
Plagiarism, cheating, or any form of dishonesty in assessments is taken very seriously and can affect your visa status and academic progress.

3. Visa and Immigration Advice
If anything goes wrong or you're unsure about your visa conditions, don’t wait - get advice straight away. Changes in course, attendance, or academic status might affect your visa.
