What can I expect from PhySoc?
Over the past few years, we have had to hold all of our pub quizzes and other events online, like so many others, due to the Covid-19 pandemic. However, this year we are back and better than ever! We aim to host a variety of activities such as socials, quizzes, talks, astronomical events in the peaks, and a variety of public outreach. Not only will you have all of that to look forward to, but we also have big plans to organize at least one big “off-campus” activity! Last year we went to ISIS (Not the terrorist organisation - the neutron and muon source) in Oxford and who knows maybe this year we go abroad! With so much going on why not become a member!? I mean it is free so why not!
Why should I join the Discord server?
Our Discord is the place to chat with the rest of the physics students, ask a question just to your year group or those on placement or those who are staying up late writing dissertations! We aren't that scary and if pop culture is to be believed we're probably more scared of you than you are of us! It will be our meeting place for our online events, an area to ask for help from your peers or somewhere to share sketchy physics memes.
We will also share any relevant news on there, such as upcoming events or changes to events. We may also hold polls on Discord in an effort to better inform what activities we plan out.
How will I find out about upcoming events?
We will update our activities on this page as soon as anything is planned, and we will let you know through all of our social media channels and big group emails.
I am not a physics student, can I join?
If you are interested in physics or socialising with people who are interested in physics, then this is the place for you, it doesn’t matter if you are a physics student, we will gladly have you!
