As one of the largest societies in the Union, Sheffield Hallam Students' Union's Geography Society is a vibrant community for both those that study Geography-related courses at Sheffield Hallam as well as students who are interested in the variety of events we run. In previous years such events have included guest lectures, study support sessions, frequent 'night out' socials film nights, sports fixtures, social day trips, regular hikes into the nearby Peaks, an end of year ball, and following recent successes, an international field trip - previous destinations including Berlin, Budapest and Prague! A full list of our upcoming events can be found here. Becoming a member of GEOGSOC has a variety of benefits including exclusive discounts for socials and the end of year ball!
To date our society has won numerous awards including SHSU Societies Award for Society of the Year and Society in the Community in 2019 and the National Union of Students (NUS) award for Committment to Participation in 2016, as well as being shortlisted for several other awards in both 2019 and 2020.
We have been recognised for hosting a wide range of events to an incredibly high standard with a maximum amount of effort, all while working alongisde the Union, University and the local community to ensure an inclusive and organised environment.
We welcome everyone and can't wait to see both new and old faces in the new academic year! But if you simply can't wait until then we can be found via social media where you can see what we've been up to, also we are always more than happy to answer any questions via email or direct messages!
