One-off volunteer at Doncaster Raceday event

Help us bring the festive to Doncaster racecourse at our very first Christmas Jumpers event! We are looking for friendly, enthusiastic volunteers to make the day magical. Come and be part of something special- sparkly festive jumpers welcome!

We’re excited to share that Bluebell Wood’s Christmas Jumper Race Day is launching for the very first time—and it’s going to be aired on TV on Sky Sports Racing! 

Set at the iconic Doncaster Racecourse, home of the historic St Leger Stakes, this festive day promises live racing, joyful entertainment, and plenty of Christmas sparkle. It’s a brilliant opportunity to celebrate the season while raising awareness and support for Bluebell Wood.

We are looking for volunteer support to help bring the magic to life.  We need some confident volunteers to talk about the hospice with guests as well as volunteers to support with a big smile welcoming around the grounds with bucket collections, amongst other roles such as raffle hosting, running merchandise stalls, dressing up in our mascot costume, corporate hosting in our own suite and more.

Overview of Project

About the hospice Bluebell Wood offers care for babies, children and young people in South Yorkshire, North Nottinghamshire, North Lincolnshire and North Derbyshire with life-limiting conditions. We support hundreds of families, both in our hospice and in family homes. Our support services are wide ranging and bespoke to each family; including overnight care, music therapy, counselling, sibling support groups, home visits and much, much more. It costs around £6.5m to keep our doors open for families across South Yorkshire and beyond. Statutory funding makes up 16% of this amount and the rest is raised through fundraising activity.

This Role Involves

Key tasks: Below are a range of roles that you might be asked to help with on the day: Bucket collecting Selling raffle tickets Running a merchandise stall Talking to guests in our very own corporate suite about the hospice

Role Duration

This is a one-off volunteer opportunity taking place on Friday 12th December. We are looking for volunteers to help from 9am-4.30pm

Time Commitment (hours Per week/month/year, etc)

7.5 hours

Training Information

Briefing documents will be sent to you ahead of the day. we will then have a whole team briefing on the day before the event starts.

Expenses Information

We can cover your travel expenses in line with our policy. PLEASE NOTE: We can only cover petrol and public transport costs. We are unable to reimburse any taxi fares.
