Join a Nature Observation Walk

This opportunity takes place on 22 May 2025

Fancy a walk? Watch out for nature whilst you wander! 22nd May.

Overview of Project

Join us on a walk around Norfolk Heritage Park to observe and record the nature around us, 22nd May.

This Role Involves

Whilst you wander around the Norfolk Heritage Park, you will be asked to fill out an observation record, noting down if you see specific birds, insects and plants. This data will then be uploaded to Sheffield & Rotherham Wildlife Trust's Nature Record to help them keep track of any changes in our local environment. We will meet outside the Hallam Student Union Building (6 Paternoster Row, Sheffield S1 2QQ) at 12:45 on 22nd May to walk up to the park. Remember to bring a water bottle and sun cream in case of hot weather!

Location

Norfolk Heritage Park, Guildford Avenue, Sheffield, S2 2PL

Skills/Experience Required

You don't need to have to have completed an observation record before. Just be ready to look around you to spot different species and be prepared to spend time outdoors!

Benefits to Others

Your record will provide Sheffield & Rotherham Wildlife Trust with valuable data that will help them get a clearer picture about the local biodiversity of Sheffield. It will also help to make more evidenced choices about conservation and keep track of any increase or decline in local plant and animal species.

Benefits to the Volunteer

A walk around nature can help you relax and the observations you make will help take your mind off any stress, providing you with a peaceful break from studying. It could also help you learn about the local nature of Sheffield as well as being an opportunity to meet like-minded people.

Role Duration

This is a one-off volunteering opportunity which will take place for a few hours in the afternoon on the 22nd May.

Time Commitment (hours Per week/month/year, etc)

12:45 - 15:00
