Village Guide Volunteer

This opportunity is ongoing, with no end date.

Are you passionate about history? Do you have a flair for storytelling? This could be the role for you! Join our team of Village Guides and lead tours of the historic village of Eyam based in the beautiful Peak District. Your storytelling will enhance visitors’ understanding of the plague outbreak of 1665-6 that devastated the community and explore the wider social and industrial history of the village. This role will suit you if you are: • Passionate about history and sharing stories • Enthusiastic and enjoy meeting new people • Happy to spend time outdoors in all weathers • There is no minimum time commitment, however on the days you are available to volunteer you would be happy to deliver two tours per day • Looking to gain experience that can help you in a future career in heritage and visitor experience • Over 18

Overview of Project

Eyam Museum tells the story of the plague outbreak of 1665-6 in Eyam and the industrial and social history of the village. It is a registered charity run by a board of trustees with a small team of paid staff and many dedicated volunteers.

This Role Involves

Leading groups on guided tours of Eyam village.

Location

Eyam, Derbyshire

Skills/Experience Required

Skills needed No prior experience is necessary beyond a positive and enthusiastic attitude. Comprehensive training will be provided with the opportunity to conduct your own research and make the tour your own.
