Silver 'Sheffield Hallam University' letters on a wall of dark grey slats.

University staff both from Sheffield Hallam and University of Sheffield have voted in favour of strike action during November and December.

Why is industrial action taking place?

Following the recent formal ballot, staff at both universities have voted in favour of industrial action in response to long-standing concerns over pay. The confirmed strike dates are Tuesday 11, Wednesday 12, and Thursday 13 November.

Further planned strike action is also scheduled for Monday 17 November to Thursday 20 November, and Monday 1 December to Friday 5 December.

What will this mean for students?

Some lectures, seminars, tutorials or workshops may be postponed, cancelled, or delivered differently.

Feedback on assignments, assessments, or coursework may be delayed, and deadlines could shift.

The level of disruption will vary across departments and depend on individual staff participation in action.

The University should communicate which modules or sessions are affected so please check your emails, Blackboard, and module announcements.
