Health, Wellbeing and Life Sciences Officer, Leah, has worked with the University to provide Personal Placement Support Plans to help students prepare for and navigate placements.
Starting a new placement can be exciting, but it can also bring new challenges and pressures. That's why we want to make sure you feel fully supported before, during, and after your placement experience.
Your Health, Wellbeing and Life Sciences Officer, Leah, has worked with the University to provide Personal Placement Support Plan templates. They're practical, downloadable tools to help you plan for potential challenges so you can easily access the right support whenever you need it.
What is a Placement Support Plan?
A Placement Support Plan is a personal document that helps you identify:
- What support you might need while on placement.
- Any health, wellbeing, or accessibility considerations.
- Useful strategies and resources.
- Key contacts in case you need help or advice.
It's your space to reflect on how you can feel safe, confident, and supported while gaining valuable real-world experience.

How to use the templates
- Include as much or as little information as you feel comfortable with.
- Keep your plan for personal use, or share it with your placement supervisor, academic advisor, or Student Wellbeing team if you'd like additional support.
- Revisit and update the plan throughout your placement; your needs might change over time, and that's okay.
Why create a plan?
Taking a few minutes to create a personalised plan can make a big difference to your wellbeing. Your Placement Support Plan helps you:
- Feel more prepared and in control before starting.
- Identify any potential challenges early.
- Know where to turn if you need help.
- Build confidence and resilience in a new environment.
