We're celebrating a 2% year-on-year increase in student sentiment following the release of the latest National Student Survey (NSS) results.
This upward shift reflects a stable, four-year progression, validating our strategic efforts to deliver meaningful support and advocacy for the Sheffield Hallam community.
The past 12 months have seen the members of Hallam Students' Union (HSU) being more active, engaged, and passionate about leading change that impacts their future. We think these are some of the key highlights:
- HSU Officers established a dedicated committee alongside Sheffield Hallam University to tackle and improve academic timetabling directly.
- The Sheffield Students' Assembly was established, bringing a collective voice to the city's student population to campaign for improved public transport, night-time safety, and international students' rights.
- Hallam members organised additional Members' Meetings to debate and ask HSU to take a stance on critical issues, including solidarity campaigns and institutional teaching quality.
- Students voted for new HSU priorities, covering topics such as better employment and transition support.
These are just some of the initiatives we've been working on this year to bring positive impact to the Hallam student experience.
"A 2% rise is a massive win for us because it proves when we listen to students and push for structural changes, it makes a real difference to their daily university experience. This increase is a testament to our tireless Course and Lead Reps, our dedicated staff, and every single student."
- Ebuka Obi, Hallam SU President
"We are absolutely thrilled with these NSS results. They reflect the incredible dedication of our staff and highlight our commitment to providing an outstanding, supportive community for every student."
- Kathryn Burkitt, CEO, Hallam SU
