Our Community Fridge continues to make a difference, supporting students facing increasingly tight budgets. Run entirely by students, for students, the Community Fridge has become a welcoming space where accessing free essentials is simple and quick, no questions asked.

Please note: the Community Fridge is currently closed as we relocate to a bigger space. We’ll reopen in January on the ground floor of Charles Street.

Donation collection success

Volunteers have collected an incredible 902.62kg of food during semester one alone, far surpassing our 600kg target. This has not only supported students with living costs, but helped reduce food waste.

Volunteer growth

15 dedicated student volunteers are supporting us this year. This team includes five students returning from last year, demonstrating their commitment and the strong, continuing sense of community the Fridge inspires.

Student savings

Donated food translated into an estimated £2,101.34 in savings for students, easing financial pressures and helping students focus on their studies.

Environmental impact

By redistributing surplus food, the Community Fridge prevented approximately 2.26 tonnes of CO₂e emissions, making a meaningful contribution to the environment.

The Community Fridge has proven to be more than just a source of essentials, it’s a hub of community, sustainability, and student empowerment. With its relaunch in January, we’re excited to see it grow even bigger, better, and more impactful.
