Grimm & Co is a children’s literacy charity based in Rotherham which changes lives one story at a time. Volunteers can assist us remotely with admin, including data input, creating social media content and research. We also welcome applications from illustrators and graphic designers who can assist us in creating designs for us to share online. Shop Elves can be involved in making our products, greeting our customers and maintaining standards in the Apothecary.

Overview of Project

Grimm & Co is a children’s literacy charity based in Rotherham which changes lives one story at a time. Grimm & Co works with school groups and runs a successful out of schools programme focussed on creative writing. We aim to increase confidence and build literacy skills whilst keeping imagination at the heart of what we do. All of this is fronted by our Apothecary to the magical which sells potions, stationery and kitchenware's for magical beings (to humans these appear to be soaps, bath salts, journals and mugs to name a few).

This Role Involves

Volunteers can assist us remotely with admin, including data input, creating social media content and research. We also welcome applications from illustrators and graphic designers who can assist us in creating designs for us to share online. Shop Elves can be involved in making our products, greeting our customers and maintaining standards in the Apothecary.

Skills/Experience Required

- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) are essential. - Experience working with Children and young people is desirable but not essential. - Experience in retail is desirable but not essential. - Experience of illustration or design necessary for illustrator volunteer role.

Grimm & Co works with a large number of young people who each get something out of having 1-1 support from mentors. As a volunteer you would be supporting a small staff team which would allow us.

Benefits to the Volunteer

Volunteering with Grimm & Co is very rewarding. It is an opportunity to get experience working with young people. We also provide volunteers with training and skills for their role, including but not limited to Safeguarding, product making, retail experience and mentoring.

Role Duration

Ongoing. We ask that volunteers commit to a minimum of 1 shift per month. Remote volunteering can be flexible but in person volunteering must fit within our opening hours.

Flexible.

Training Information

Yes- Volunteers will be provided with a full induction and any necessary training.

Expenses Information

Travel expenses can be reimbursed in line with our Volunteering Policy.
