Shrub Planting - 19th May

19 May 2026 14:00

Help us plant for colour that lasts into autumn at Sheffield Hallam

We're looking for volunteers to help plant over 100 shrubs in the flower beds at the main entrance to City Campus, and we'd love you to get involved! There are two sessions available, both on May 19th. You can choose between 14:00 to 15:30 or 15:30 to 17:00 once you have applied.

Overview of Project

The planting has been carefully chosen to carry colour well beyond summer. Alongside classic favourites like lavender and hydrangea, the mix includes plants like Photinia, Berberis and Hebe that offer rich foliage and stem colour deep into autumn, meaning the beds will still be looking their best during graduation season. Together they'll create a real floral impact at one of the busiest spots on campus. The plant list includes: Berberis Red Jewel, Choisya Ternate Sundance, Hydrangea, Lavandula, Photinia Carre Rouge, Hebe Red Edge, Ophiopogon Nigrescens and Bellis Mix.
