Goalball UK Activators help to run competitions, with the aim of getting more people with a visual impairment more active more often. As an activator you can get involved through officiating, assisting, and promoting Goalball UK competitions.

Goalball UK Activators help to run competitions, with the aim of getting more people with a visual impairment more active more often. You can get involved through officiating, assisting, and promoting Goalball UK competitions. 

As an activator you will receive a branded Goalball UK activator pack including a t-shirt, along with refreshments and snacks throughout the day.

Being an Activator will provide a fantastic opportunity to meet new people, gain confidence, develop skills and overall – have fun! With ten officials required to run a game, we are always looking for new people to get involved.

Overview of Project

Goalball Activator Tournament Roles Goalball Activators play a vital role in helping us deliver our national league competitions and events. Below are the various roles available to help you identify how you may contribute.

This Role Involves

Goalball Activators help to run tournaments and goalball sessions, with the aim of getting more people with a visual impairment more active more often. As an activator you can get involved through officiating, assisting, coaching, leading, and promoting goalball tournaments and sessions. Being a Goalball Activator will be a rewarding experience, providing a fantastic opportunity to meet new people, gain confidence, develop skills and overall – have fun!

Whatever your skill set, our inclusive environment allows everyone to get involved. You don’t need any qualifications or prior knowledge of goalball to volunteer with us, all we require is dedication and commitment.

Volunteers are vital to the delivery of the sport across the UK. Our volunteers provide countless hours on a weekly basis to ensure the sport is delivered in the community. Without the help of the volunteers the sport simply could not be played.

There are many reasons as to why individuals want to volunteer, but we find no matter what the motivation all our volunteers benefit from: Supporting a Paralympic sport while making a difference in the community Developing new or existing skills Being a part of an exciting events team Meeting new people and joining the goalball community Having FUN! All activators receive a branded Goalball UK activator pack including a t-shirt, bag and water bottle along with refreshments and snacks throughout the day.

Role Duration

Saturday 24th January 2026 You can volunteer for the full weekend, a full day, a morning or an afternoon. The day runs from 9am until approx. 5pm

Training Information

An online course to introduce the sport of goalball and the basics of officiating the game. By completing the course, you will feel prepared to goal judge and table officiate (with support) at a Goalball UK competition. You will have: Basic knowledge of the sport of goalball An understanding of the different officiating roles required to run a game A basic understanding of the rules and how they are applied within each officiating role Greater awareness of people with a visual impairment
