We're moving out of the HUBS and into brand-new spaces right at the heart of campus life.
We'll open the spaces in phases, with the move to our new Hallam SU headquarters - located right next to Owen's main entrance, and on the ground floor of Charles Street - set to happen this semester.
That means we'll be fully ready to host student activity and events in the new spaces from semester 2!
Hallam SU - Owen
Hallam's former Careers Connect building (located to the left of Owen's main entrance) is being transformed into our new Hallam SU headquarters. The new space will open this semester; we'll let you know exact dates when we have them.
This is your space. It's flexible, accessible, bookable; perfect for creating a constant flow of year-round student-led activities and events.
The space is a blank canvas - it's designed for you to use how you want. Just let us know your ideas and we'll help you bring them to life.
Imagine... a massive screen for film nights or gaming, a handy kitchenette for snacks and event prep, comfy seating for chilling and chatting, and a dedicated space to grab all your Hallam merch.
Plus, your usual SU support teams will be available upstairs and online.
Hallam SU - Owen, Hallam Square, Sheffield, S1 2LX

Hallam SU - Charles Street
We're breathing life into the large social space on the ground floor of Charles Street!
The underused café and seating area will be transformed into a vibrant student hub packed with events, society meet-ups, wellbeing activities, student fairs, and exclusive brand pop-ups.
It will also be home to our Community Fridge, providing free food every day to students who need a little extra support.
Activity will kick off in semester two, starting with a full programme of exciting events and activities to welcome you back to campus.
Hallam SU - Charles Street, 133 Charles Street, Sheffield, S1 2ND
Hallam SU - Collegiate
Don't worry, Collegiate, we haven't forgotten about you!
From semester two you'll find a boost in on-site support, including HSU Officers on campus regularly, SU Advice presence at Wellbeing Wednesdays, and exciting events and activities brought direct to you.
That's just the start. We're working with staff and students to understand what you want to see in the space going forward, so we can deliver a much-needed upgrade.

FAQs
Why are we moving from the HUBS?
Throughout our 22 years at the HUBS, the way Hallam students learn, socialise, and connect has totally changed. The HUBS simply doesn't provide the flexibility to support the diverse range of activities and services our modern, dynamic community needs. That's why we're creating new spaces that are as flexible and dynamic as you are.
Our goal is to create spaces that:
- redefine what a Students' Union means to every Hallam student.
- empower students to lead events, activities, and initiatives right at the heart of campus life.
- enable students to easily access our student services, regardless of who they are or where they are on campus.
Plus, with ongoing maintenance issues and high energy costs, maintaining the HUBS has become increasingly challenging and expensive.
That's a lot of time and money that could be better spent on you.
What will happen to the HUBS?
While the future of the HUBS building is currently undecided, the University has confirmed there are no plans to demolish it.
How can students book the new spaces?
The new spaces can be booked online via Resource Booker, the University's existing room booking platform.
