Societies | Feminism

FemSoc is back! SHU Feminism Society is a group that believes in equality for everyone regardless of any labels and identities they may embody. The Feminism Society is a safe space for students to discuss topics regarding intersectional feminism and gender equality/inequality issues.

We meet every Wednesday and alternate between meetings and socials. Meetings are held in the Activities Pod in the Hubs at 7pm and socials will be arranged closer to the date. In the past, we have hosted a 'Speed Mate-ing' freshers event in collaboration with Girl Gang Sheffield, had socials at the Treehouse Board Game Cafe, attended a screening of Hidden Figures, and attended Black History Month events. Future plans for FemSoc include:

  • Going to SheFest (and similar events)
  • Hosting feminist film screenings
  • Guest speakers
  • Going to various Pride events
  • Fundraising for local charities (tbc)
  • Regular socials
  • And much more!
