Societies | Feminism

FemSoc is back! Our newly formed SHU Feminism Society is a group that believes in equality between all genders regardless of any labels and identities they may embody. The Feminism Society is a safe way for students to discuss topics regarding intersectional feminism and gender equality/inequality issues.

We will hold regular meetings on Wednesdays at 7pm in the Student Union that will consist of debates and discussions; other activities held will include various socials, awareness campaigns and guest talks. In the past, we have had socials at the Treehouse Board Game Cafe and attended a screening of Hidden Figures. Future plans for FemSoc include:

  • Hosting 'Give-it-a-Go Speed Mate-ing' in collaboration with Girl Gang Sheffield on 2nd October
  • First society meeting of the year on Wednesday 10th October
  • Attending SheFest (and similar events)
  • Hosting feminist film screenings
  • Guest speakers
  • Fundraising for local charities (tbc)
  • Regular socials
  • And much more!

Join our facebook group for regular updates!
