Societies | Humanist Students

Humanist Students is affiliated to Humanists UK. We support and represent non-religious students on campus. We want the world to be a tolerant place where rational thinking and kindness prevail. We support human rights, equality, secularism and free expression; championing ideas for the one life we have.

We welcome all students wanting to explore non-religious approaches to life, whether you idenitfy as humanist, atheist, sceptic, no-religion, or just not sure.

We are committed to engaging in respectful multi-faith dialogue with fellow students and societies, and have worked with the University Chaplaincy to appoint a non-religious advisor. This is a fantastic benefit for non-religious students wishing to access like minded emotional or existential support.

We have a fantastic series of events coming up in Semester 2, with plenty of opportunities to get involved:

  • January World Religion Day multifaith panel
  • February 12th – Darwin Day ‘Ask a Humanist’
  • February – Fair Trade Week – Humanism and Human Rights
  • March 18th - Prof Chris French talk on beliefs in reincarnation. Hosted by Sheffield Skeptics in the Pub.
  • March – Faith to Faithless event tbc
  • **Humanists UK Convention Leicester 21st - 23rd June 2019 (dependent on numbers)**

We will also hold ad hoc informal social events, follow us on social media for updates.
