Societies | LGBT+ Committee

The LGBT+ Liberation Group is here to provide all students who identify as a minority sexuality or gender identity a place to meet fellow LGBT+ students and take part in events/campaigns.

Who are we?

We are an active group within the Students' Union and play a key part in connecting our LGBT+ community of students together and representing them on local and national levels.

SHSU LGBT+ Liberation Group aim to provide a safe space for students, and an environment where all members feel comfortable and able to discuss any issues, concerns and queries they have with one another and also the committee.. Come and let your voice be heard, get the best out of your student experience and be represented.

What we do?

  • Create more awareness of the issues facing LGBT+ students at Sheffield Hallam University.
  • Create a platform in which issues can be raised and then campaign to see these issues resolved.
  • Host events and socials, including LGBT History Month & International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia & Transphobia.

Membership

Membership to the LGBT+ Liberation Committee is completely free! You can gain official SU membership by logging in and adding it to your basket - this will add you to the private mailing list and allow you to run and vote in any LGBT+ Committee elections. Your position as a member will always be entirely confidential.
Here at Sheffield Hallam Students' Union we want to make sure every student is treated fairly, equally and are able to participate in any Union or University activity without fear of discrimination in any shape or form.
