What does Amnesty do?

Amnesty International is a worldwide movement of campaigners defending human rights. Amnesty works as an independent body to impartially promote respect for all human rights set out in the UN's Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and they campaign to end human rights abuses all over the world.

Why join Amnesty at SHU?

SHU's Amnesty International society is a newly founded society looking to educate those around us and discuss the current political climate. We work with lecturers and scholars to organise events that will develop your understanding of human rights, we organise more informal meetings for discussion & debate, and we celebrate milestones in the history of social justice and human rights. If you're interested in human rights law or campaigning for social justice, our society will offer you a wider range of knowledge and experience!
