We’re always going to be here for you, even through changing times..

2020 was challenging on many levels and has radically changed the world as we know it. But silver linings do exist and the steps we take from here on out will allow us to focus on a future that really matters to YOU.

One that puts students in Sheffield first, as we come together to reset and rebuild YOUR Union and the communities around us.

We’ve spent the past two years examining everything we do, looking at our external environment and talking to you - the reason why we exist. Filling your inboxes and feeds with opportunities to tell us what’s on your mind.

In fact, a record 5138 of you responded over all the consultation we did, showing us the support and services that matter to you the most and what we can do to make sure your time here in Sheffield is truly the best that it can be.

Hallam, WE HEARD YOU…

From our findings, we have created a new Strategic Plan built by YOU - our students, volunteers and staff to create a future that is new, bold and vibrant. Where every Hallam student shapes their own experiences and finds a place within a strong society that supports them.

We have set out a series of promises which we want you to measure us on and the way we deliver these promises will be in collaboration with you, each and every step. Because participation from every member of our 30,000 strong community is the only way we can become the Union you want us to be and we can’t wait to work on our plans with you over the next four years.

We’ll share with you the goals we set, as well as our achievements and in the meantime, you can find out more about our new Strategic Plan below.

Your Vision. Our Strategy…

We know you love it here in Sheffield - and why wouldn’t you? It’s a truly vibrant, diverse and everchanging environment and a great place to study.

Which is why, over the next four years, we’ll be developing relationships with even more arts, cultural and sporting organisations across the city. Making it easier than ever to get involved in activities that fulfil your passions and enhance the Hallam experience.

We started this journey to create a stronger future for your Students' Union, which has required us to challenge the status quo and make some difficult decisions to push through radical change.

Our focus will be on providing you with outstanding representation and advice, at the same time as embedding our student communities across the city and wider region.

Things may look a little different. But we will still have a jam-packed programme of support and activities on offer, driven by students for students and we're lucky enough to have a whole host of fabulous vendors close by, where you can catch up over coffee with friends, find a quiet space to study and immerse yourself in a cultural calendar of events. All you have to do, is decide where to discover first - and we’re here to help.

The neighbouring Showroom Cinema and Site Gallery are both great places to start and there’s plenty of pubs and restaurants close by, like The Green Howst Café and Rutland Arms or try the Treehouse Board Game Café for fun and nibbles.

Cutlery WorksKommune and Peddler Market are perfect if you’re feeling indecisive and you'll find plenty of craft breweries across the city (with many just a short walk from our campuses). Try The Beer Engine on London Road, The Fat Cat in Kelham Island or Sheffield Tap inside the train station.

Our partnership with #HallamNation at Crystal every Wednesday evening will also continue once lockdown has been lifted and we’re busy working with The Leadmill to host some exiting events.
