To inspire the next generation of scientists, by creating close relationships with schools, staff and students, to produce quality bespoke teaching resources.
At STEM4Schools, we aim to encourage all students to pursue their passions, and develop a keen interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, working closely with schools and producing quality materials to encourage this learning with all pupils. We do this by creating and delivering STEM-based workshops to students in underfunded primary schools here in Sheffield with the hopes of creating an interactive learning environment that will encourage practical and hands-on experiences.
At the moment, we use a web-based game as our primary teaching tool that explores computer science concepts such as sequence, iteration & branching. As a S4S member, you will be involved with developing this workshop or exploring other areas such as a physics-based workshop. Members are also expected to visit schools regularly to deliver these sessions over the course of the academic year.
You will need to be passionate about STEM education and be willing to share your knowledge with these young people in an engaging and fun way.
3-5 hours (Hours might increase or decrease depending on the number of workshops conducted at primary schools)
Yes, for members wanting to be directly involved in delivering workshops at the schools.
