Last week was the third annual National Societies Awards in Cardiff! A group of Officers, students and staff from Sheffield Hallam Students Union went down to support the students that were shortlisted for an amazing five awards at the event.
The shortlisted students were: Abdullah Okud and Jess Mell for Outstanding Individual Contribition to Societies, Christian Union for Best Cultural and Faith Society, Vietnamese Society for Best Society Event and Wine Appreciation Society for Best Initiative.
They were all shortlisted for their incredibile contributions to societies this year and we are very proud of them. It was a fantastic night and to top it off, the Wine Appreciation Society picked up some silverware, winning the trophy for Runner Up in their category for their 'X' phone initiative! The initiative was put into place to protects its societies members on nightouts or socials, if a member of the group feels unsafe or harrassed, they can text X to a number and a member of the committee will find them and help them out.
A huge congratulations to everyone, here are a couple of pictures from the night...
