The HUBIS Awards will take place on Wednesday 3rd April and will be a night celebrating diversity, highlighting the successes and achievements of students and staff from BME and International backgrounds.

 

Student Awards

HUBIS Awards 19: Campaign of the Year

This award will recognise a campaign that has had a positive impact on the international and/or BME student experience at the university, in the wider community or internationally.

Open to: any international student or student that self-identifies as BME or student groups at Sheffield Hallam University

Your application must demonstrate:

1. Evidence of the impact that your campaign has had on international and/or BME Sheffield Hallam students;

2. Evidence of creativity in the delivery of the campaign through events, activities and/or communication channels;

3. Evidence of strong engagement, communication and team working throughout your campaign.

This nomination form must be submitted by Monday 25th March 2019.

HUBIS Award 19: Student Leader of the Year

This award will recognise an international and/or BME student that demonstrate strong leadership skills.

Open to: any international student or student that self-identifies as BME at Sheffield Hallam University

Your application must demonstrate: 

  1. Evidence of strong leadership skills through active engagement in Sheffield Hallam;
  2. Evidence a positive impact due to leading on a project, on a placement, on a committee, on a campaign, and/or on an event or activity.

This nomination form must be submitted by Monday 25th March 2019.

HUBIS Award 19: Inspirational Student of the Year

This award will recognise an international and/or BME student who has motivated and inspired others locally, nationally or internationally.

Open to: any international student or student that self-identifies as BME at Sheffield Hallam University

Your application must demonstrate: 

  1. A commitment to and evidence of your ability to motivate and inspire other students to realize their potential;
  2. Evidence of ways in which you have motivated or inspired others through a project, a committee, a campaign, an event, on a placement, or through university-related work.

This nomination form must be submitted by Monday 25th March 2019.

HUBIS Award 19: Academic Excellence Award

This award will recognise an international and/or BME student that has excelled at and achieved a high academic standard at Sheffield Hallam on either a course-related project or throughout their course as a whole.

Open to: any international student or student that self-identifies as BME at Sheffield Hallam University

Your application must demonstrate: 

  1. Evidence of high academic achievement through university-level education.

This nomination form must be submitted by Monday 25th March 2019.

HUBIS Award 19: Sporting Excellence Award

This award recognises an individual that has excelled in a sport or that has had a positive impact in the field of sport.

Open to: any international student or student that self-identifies as BME at Sheffield Hallam University

Your application must demonstrate: 

  1. Evidence of your performance and the outcome of this performance and/or the impact you have had in the field of sport.

This nomination form must be submitted by Monday 25th March 2019.

HUBIS Award 19: Community Engagement Award

This award recognises an individual or group that has made an outstanding contribution in their local community.

Open to: any international student or student that self-identifies as BME or student groups at Sheffield Hallam University

Your application must demonstrate: 

  1. Evidence the activity you took part in, why it was important to you and the impact it had on the wider community.

This nomination form must be submitted by Monday 25th March 2019.

HUBIS Award 19: Hallam Life Award

This award recognises an individual that has has an impact on the experience of a number of Hallam students through advocacy and other engagement and volunteering roles.

Open to: any international student or student that self-identifies as BME at Sheffield Hallam University

Your application must demonstrate: 

  1. Evidence of how you have engaged with a range of Sheffield Hallam (Students' Union and University) services/activity;
  2. Evidence of the impact you have had on other students at Hallam

This nomination form must be submitted by Monday 25th March 2019.

HUBIS Award 19: Event of the Year

This award recognises a student or a group of students for an outstanding event from planning to delivery.

Open to: any international student or student that self-identifies as BME or student groups at Sheffield Hallam University

Your application must demonstrate: 

  1. Evidence of an event that is original, innovative and creative that effectively achieves the group's aims and objectives.
  2. Evidence how the event was promoted to reach the target audience
  3. Evidence of the overall impact achieved through the event.

This nomination form must be submitted by Monday 25th March 2019.

HUBIS Award 19: Arts & Culture Award

This award recognises a student who have made an outstanding contribution in the field of Arts and Culture.

Open to: any international student or student that self-identifies as BME at Sheffield Hallam University

Your application must demonstrate: 

  1. Evidence of you volunteering on an Arts and Culture project or being part of an event or exhibition.
  2. You must demonstrate your outstanding dedication, passion and creativity towards the project or opportunity.

This nomination form must be submitted by Monday 25th March 2019.

Staff Awards

HUBIS Award 19: Inspirational Staff Member Award

This award will recognise a member of Sheffield Hallam University or Sheffield Hallam Students' Union staff that has served as significant inspiration for international and/or BME students at Sheffield Hallam University.

Open to: any member of staff from Sheffield Hallam University or Sheffield Hallam Students' Union

Your application must demonstrate: 

  1. A commitment to and evidence of improving the lives of international and/or BME students at SHU through inspirational work;
  2. Demonstration of the values of Sheffield Hallam Students' Union (passion, honesty, dedication, innovation, and diversity).

This nomination form must be submitted by Monday 25th March 2019.

HUBIS Award 19: Commitment to Student Support Award

This award recognises a member of staff who has gone over and beyond and dedicated a lot of their time towards supporting international and/or BME students at Sheffield Hallam University.

Open to: any member of staff from Sheffield Hallam University or Sheffield Hallam Students' Union

Your application must demonstrate: 

  1. A commitment to and evidence of improving the lives of international and/or BME students at SHU through your direct support.

This nomination form must be submitted by Monday 25th March 2019.
