Find Your Perfect Project
We have hundreds of different projects for you to take part in, lasting from a few hours to a full year. You can get matched with a local charity through our Community Partners scheme, help out for a day with our One-Offs, lead your own Team Project with other students, gain vital experience with our Arts & Culture programme or set up Your Own Project. There's something for everyone!
To find out more, read the short guide to our different areas below or click the icons to search the projects for yourself!
Our Community Partners Scheme comprises all of our partner organisations in Sheffield. You can search through our database with a number of different filters and apply to be matched up with a charity or community organisation that's perfect for you. These are usually longer term projects and will usually take place on a weekly basis. You'll gain great experience, receive support from the team at SHSU and your Community Partner, and help make a difference to the city!
Our One-Off programme allows students to take part in a huge range of voluntary opportunities with no commitment; from dog-walking to stewarding large festivals and everything in between. Meet new friends, bring along your flatmates or organise a sober social for your sports team or society.
Our Team Projects generally consist of team members (5-10) and a Project Leader. You will work as a team to develop sessions, write risk assessments, fundraise for resources and deliver your sessions in the community. Projects include school based projects (delivering workshops on science, history and nutrition), classroom assistants, autism social schemes, art therapy projects, events and many more.
Your Own Project
Don't like what you see? Why not do it yourself! We provide full support for all students wishing to set up new projects at all stages of the process. You may want to take your sports team or society into the community, be passionate about a particular issue, or just have a great idea that needs a bit of assistance. We're here to support your vision, answer any questions, and sort out all the boring bits. Why not drop in for a chat - we're a friendly bunch!
