Information and resource development volunteer

South Yorkshire Refugee Law and Justice is a small charity which supports failed asylum seekers with fresh claims for refugee status by giving legal advice and undertaking research tasks. This is a good role for someone who is looking for experience in an administrative role, would like to support asylum seekers and refugees and who is interested in finding out how the UK asylum system works.

 

This volunteering role provides administrative support to the team and involves:

  • Collating and ordering paperwork on behalf of clients;

  • Writing letters, making telephone calls and sending e-mails to gather information;

  • Arranging appointments.

 

You will need:

  • An interest in issues relating to the asylum system or in Human Rights;

  • A willingness to learn administrative processes;

  • An eye for detail;

 

Where: City of Sanctuary, Chapel Walk, Sheffield.

When: Tuesdays or Wednesdays between 10-4. 

Commitment: 2 hours a week; 6 months commitment is required, you can take a break in between if needed.
