Specialist Mentoring Scheme works with vulnerable young people across Sheffield and hardest to reach young people in a one to one capacity. We are funded by Sheffield city council to help young people reach their goals this is done by doing different activities with young people.
Specialist Mentor Volunteering invovlves taking young people out minimum once every two weeks doing different activities with them. Talking to young people and building a trusting and positive relationship
The project has strict Covid-19 policies and guidelines around working with young people. Every activity is risk assessed and all PPE is given to make sure volunteers are safe.
Rest bite for family, someone different to talk to who isn’t a professional, more support, Enjoyment, being able to participate in healthy activities, meeting new people, sense of belonging, building their independence
2 hours per week for a minimum of 6 months
Training, Experience, On-going support, Meeting new people, Supports wellbeing, References if looking to work with young people, Feeling valued, being heard and listened to
Outgoing, punctual, understanding, caring, good listening skills, reliable
Volunteer expenses will be reimbursed.
