Welcome to Sheffield (or welcome back!)

Our Community Welcomers will be out and about in September and October helping you settle into your new community.  If you see them, say hi! If you're moving into a new house in June or July, help yourself to settle in by introducing yourself to your new neighbours!

What's on?

For more information about what's on through the Students' Union go to the what's on page. If you want to find out what's on in your local community you can go to

Community Volunteering and Projects

Whether you want to volunteer for an existing project or set up your own, your Union is here to help you get involved.

Burglary Reduction Campaign

What an incredible year for burglary reduction in Sheffield! In April, South Yorkshire Police reported that the number of burglaries in the city had fallen to their lowest level since 2006, and this fell even further in May! Sheffield continues to be one of the UK's safest cities, and this is thanks in no small part to the work done by our students in partnership with South Yorkshire Police and Sheffield Hallam University.

Check out our Burglary Reduction Blog to see the fantastic work that our volunteers have done over the past year!

If you are interested in volunteering as part of our Crime Reduction Campaign, drop us an email at and we'll be in touch as soon as applications reopen in September!

Community Week

Community Week is a celebration of students' contributions to the city.  Students from across Sheffield come together to create events, exhibitions and activities during February half term.  Read all about the success of our previous Community Weeks.

Get in touch and get involved!

If you are interested in getting involved with Sheffield Hallam Students'  Union and your community, or if you have any questions, please get in touch by popping into the Activities Pod at the HUBS or emailing
