Film Screening and Discussion: Stitching Palestine (2017)

An award-winning film by: Carol Mansour and Muna Khalidi

Twelve Palestinian women sit before us and talk of their lives in their different exiles, of their memories, and of their identities. Their narratives are connected by the enduring thread of the ancient art of embroidery.

Twelve women, twelve life-spans and stories from Palestine.

Through their stories, the individual weaves into the collective, yet remains distinctly personal.

After screening, Carol Mansour and Muna Khalidi will join us on skype. Afterwards, local women will discuss their use of sewing as an expression of solidarity with the Palestinian people. We will have examples of embroidered solidarity banners on display.

In celebration of Palestinian women’s resistance and resilience, Sheffield Hallam Palestine Society has partnered with the Feminist Society, SCRAP, PSC Sheffield, and Northern Women for Palestine
